The kitchen is open and airy, has a high ceiling with a vaulted skylight in the middle, fir cabinets, an island that is open to the dining/living area (two steps below). The owner is a fabulous cook and the kitchen reflects her interests. Appliances are conveniently located and include two dishwasher drawers flanking the sink and refrigerator drawers in the island. The cabinetry and trim are all out of fir. The band of fir trim above the cabinets and windows provide a reference point that is throughout the living spaces of the house and brings down the scale from the lofty spaces. The countertops are custom concrete that has inlaid stones and other artifacts that are meaningful to the owners. The placement and choice of the objects are a story that the owners explain. The hood has a milestone finish and adds addition warmth.
