After completing a weaving studio higher up on the same site, the clients were determined to remodel the existing cabin located lower down the slope from the new studio. Working the landscape with a series of angled concrete volumes creates a strong association between the new and the old. The concrete forms suggest entry, connection, and flow in a firm yet subtle way.
To tie the remodel to the weaving studio, the same steel panel roofing/siding material was used. Without changing much about the fundamental layout of windows, doors, and walls this cabin has been given a contemporary look that takes better advantage of the space both inside and outside of the cabin.
