Set above a rocky outcropping which overlooks Lake Whatcom, this house spills out onto the landscape to the views beyond. Its location defies a typical house layout by being slightly removed from the parking and garage. The clients loved the opportunity that the perch provided and were willing to traverse the landscape to obtain it. Rainwater collection is both a requirement and celebrated element of the roof form. The procession of of the home culminates at the primary bedroom and house's most prominent upper story views: stilted up from the forested landscape.
