The clients jumped at the opportunity to own a piece of land in the Poconos near a favorite fishing hole which they had been visiting for years. The 12-acre parcel abuts a meadow, where the house is placed to take advantage of the solar orientation and forest views. A monolithic roof folds down, separating private areas from public, with views framed throughout. Transparency in the roof with punctured holes sets up a connection with the sky. A single raised boardwalk floats above the forest floor as a pedestrian connection path into the trees. The natural rhythm of tree trunks transforms into columns as a sculptural gesture at the carport and entry courtyard. Upon entry one is greeted with an elevated view of the forest beyond which offers respite, recalling the day's fishing adventures at the rushing water of the stream (only an earshot away).
