With the site perched on the eastern slope of Queen Anne hill in Seattle, we wanted to take advantage of the dramatic views of the Cascade Mountains by day, and the twinkling lights of the houseboats on Lake Union by night. The original house had undergone a renovation in the 1990's, so in addition to openng up the cramped kitchen to the dining and living areas (and the view), we also borught the overall aesthetic of the interiors into the century. A large sliding glass door was a significant upgrade to the main floor living space - allowing much more direct access to the exterior deck and views beyond.
