We offer the opportunity to design your landscape and architecture in tandem. This results in an efficient and coordinated process that deeply connects homes to their environment. The benefits of integrated design are both practical and experiential - from increased energy efficiency gained through well-sited shade, to a beautiful moment created when a specimen tree is framed by a window.
SITE & CONTEXT DRIVEN
We begin each project with a thorough analysis of a site's physical, cultural, and environmental characteristics, in an effort to uncover the unique story of that place. Beyond views and screening opportunities, we gather information on prevailing winds, solar aspect, micro-climate, local plant communities, materials, soils, and hydrology. We then ask: What would be an intelligent and sensitive response to what is already here? And, how can we artfully weave this response together with our clients' goals and visions?
ECOLOGICALLY & ENVIRONMENTALLY ORIENTED
Our landscape design grows from a deep respect for our environment and the systems that sustain us. Incorporating regenerative, resilient, and sustainable practices that conserve resources, enhance ecological function, and support human health is our primary goal. We integrate rain gardens, green roofs, and pollinator support into our projects; we offer native, drought tolerant, and edible planting design; and we provide plans for soil repair and site restoration and Firewise landscapes. INDOOR & OUTDOOR INTERWOVEN
It is well documented that time spent outdoors and in contact with nature improves our health, our performance, and our sense of wellbeing. We take this seriously by designing for a conscientious connection between our indoor and outdoor spaces. From patios and decks, dining pavilions and fire pits, to contemplative gardens and water features, our outdoor rooms invite relaxation, recreation, observation, and connection to the natural world.
POETRY & JOY MOTIVATED
We aim to design places that will feel as if they have a soul. We remember the importance of the play of shadows on a wall, the sparkling movement that water adds, the effect of contrasting or harmonizing color and texture, and the delights brought to our less prominent senses through a lovely sound or wafting fragrance. Our landscape designs add beauty and enjoyment to your home.
