This residence is located on a precipitous plot between Bellingham Bay and a state park natural forest. Designed to take advantage of both the woodland background and water views, the form of the house was imagined as a nurse log already nestled in its natural place: fully belonging to the site and simply bending around existing elements. A monolithic cladding recalls the bark of a tree, and clerestory windows and skylights bring leaf-filtered light into the interior. This house embodies the clients' desire to live within the natural landscape and experience every portion of their property from the comfort of their home throughout the seasons.
