Pleasant View House is designed for a couple with a love of the Methow Valley and an interest in aging in place. Their program included a two-bedroom main house and a guest suite for family and potential live-in assistance, as well as a garage. They wanted the house to take advantage of North Cascade mountain views, while minimizing the presence of a busy road and neighboring houses. They wanted beautiful, light-filled interior spaces and outdoor rooms with a variety of exposures to wind and sun. Most of all, they wanted the house to be a model of sustainability and resilience. The resulting design adheres to firewise best practices and approaches Passive House levels of building performance.
