The Tahuya Cabin is located on Western Washington's scenic Hood Canal. Perched atop a concrete plinth, steel beams act as sleds that allow the house to cantilever off of the foundation, minimizing the disturbance at the ground level of this compact site.
The main form of the house is a metal wrapped plywood box with an opaque infill to the east containing the private functions of the home, while the western portion is a transparent great room, overlooking the canal by way of a double height glazed wall that opens to a covered deck. At just over 900 square feet, this compact cabin includes a lofted bedroom, one bath and an open great room with an eat-in kitchen. See more about the Prefab Process.
